K Bronze creates custom military plaques for military installations, veterans organizations, municipalities and service members’ families. Our work includes building and facility dedications, named rooms, veterans memorials, unit heritage displays, military seals, halls of fame and tributes to fallen service members.

Portraits should not be priced out of a memorial. Traditional hand-sculpted bas-relief portraits can add $1,950 to $3,300 before the cost of the plaque itself. Our high-definition photo-engraving process reproduces the honoree’s likeness directly from a photograph — and the portrait is included in the plaque price.

Custom bronze military plaques start around $500. Standard production is approximately three weeks, with 7- and 14-day rush production available for projects tied to a dedication, unveiling or memorial ceremony.

Put the Portrait Back in the Memorial

Traditional foundries approach a portrait as a separate sculpture. An artist models the face, creates a mold and casts the image in relief. That process can add $1,950 to $3,300 to the project — often making the portrait the first element removed when the budget gets tight.

High-definition photo engraving offers a more accessible alternative. We work directly from your photograph, whether it is a formal service portrait, a scanned historical print or a photograph taken in the field. The image is rendered in bronze with recognizable detail in the face, uniform, insignia and ribbons.

There is no separate portrait surcharge. Photo engraving is incorporated into the plaque design and included in the plaque price.

The result is a military memorial plaque that can preserve more than a name and dates. It can preserve the face behind the service — a difference people immediately recognize at the unveiling.

Your quote covers the finished plaque — not a starting price followed by a list of artwork fees. Photo-engraved portraits, authorized service emblems, unit and squadron insignia, flag backgrounds, medals and complete project rosters can be incorporated into the design without separate artwork charges.

Professional design work is included as well. Our artists arrange your wording, photographs and insignia, then send you a detailed proof before production begins. Proof-stage revisions are included, and nothing is manufactured until you approve the final design.

Plaques range from small matching replicas for family members to large architectural panels for buildings and memorial walls. Interior and exterior mounting options are available, and we supply the appropriate hardware and installation specifications for your mounting surface.

Why Choose Bronze?

Bronze has long been the material of choice for military memorials and dedications because it conveys permanence, dignity and substance. It will not rust, and there is no printed surface to peel away. Outdoors, bronze develops a natural patina that gives the plaque greater character with age. Indoors, it can retain its distinguished appearance for generations.

Other sign materials can be appropriate for temporary displays or limited budgets. But when a plaque is intended to preserve a name, dedication or story of service for decades, solid bronze remains the standard.

What is high-definition photo engraving?

High-definition photo engraving is a process that translates a photograph into a detailed, textured image on the bronze plaque. It can preserve recognizable features of the honoree’s face, uniform, ribbons and other details without requiring a separately commissioned, hand-sculpted bas-relief portrait.

We can work with formal service portraits, contemporary digital photographs and many scanned historical prints. Image quality affects the finished detail, so we will review your photograph before preparing the design.

How long does production take?

Standard production is approximately three weeks after final proof approval. When a dedication, unveiling or memorial ceremony is approaching, 7- and 14-business-day rush production may be available.

Can you match a plaque that was installed years ago?

In most cases, yes. Send us clear photographs, overall dimensions and any available information about the original plaque. We can closely match its border, lettering style, layout, finish and patina so the new plaque appears to belong with the existing installation.

Because outdoor bronze changes naturally with age, a new plaque may initially look slightly different. Its appearance will become more consistent with the original installation over time.

Do you produce plaques for every military service?

Yes. We create plaques for projects associated with the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force and Coast Guard, as well as the National Guard, Merchant Marine, joint-service organizations and Department of Defense entities.

Official seals, emblems and other protected military marks are reproduced only from authorized or approved artwork. If permission is required for a particular mark, we will identify what is needed during the design process.
