Commands name rooms as well as buildings — a conference room for a former commander, a briefing room for someone lost, a library for the person whose work fills it.
Room plaques are smaller and closer to the eye than building dedications, which changes the design: finer lettering works, and a portrait at 6″ to 8″ reads perfectly well beside a doorway.

Interior plaques are read from two feet, not twenty. That allows finer lettering, more text and a softer finish — our engraved bronze, with its uniform patina and no polished highlights, was made for exactly this setting.
Typical room plaques run 8″ to 14″. Hidden stud mounting into drywall, block or panelling is standard and the hardware comes with the plaque.
The content is the same as a building dedication in miniature: who the room is named for, why, the unit or command, and the date of the dedication.

A conference room plaque can hold far more text than a building front, and sometimes it should. The John A. Chapman Conference Room plaque carries the Medal of Honor citation in full, alongside the medal in relief and the airman’s portrait — everyone who sits in that room reads exactly why it bears his name.
