Naming a Building for a Person

Facility namings follow a formal memorialization process — a command approves the name, and the plaque is what makes it visible. The honoree's portrait, rank, command history and the reason for the naming all belong on it.

MILCON Project Rosters

Military construction plaques carry more names than any other kind we make. The using command, the funding line, NAVFAC or USACE or AFCEC as the contracting agency, the design architect, the general contractor, and the commanders in post at groundbreaking and at completion.

There is no per-name charge and no per-logo charge. Agency seals, the Army Star, the command emblem and the contractor's mark can all sit on the same plaque. Tell us the roster and we will set it so it stays legible.

Renovations, Groundbreakings and Ribbon-Cuttings

A renovation plaque generally sits beside the original dedication rather than replacing it, and we will match the original's border and patina so the pair reads as a set.

Groundbreaking plaques are cast ahead of the ceremony with the projected completion date; ribbon-cutting plaques are cast after, with the actual date. Where a ceremony date is fixed, our 7- and 14-day rush covers it.

Custom-Shaped Emblems for the Building Front

A dedication plaque does not have to be a rectangle. For a headquarters or training center, the unit’s own emblem — cut to its actual shape and cast at architectural scale — identifies the building the way a patch identifies a uniform.

The USCG Aviation Training Center emblem shown here is one of ours: a shield-form bronze casting mounted directly to the brick face, carrying the center’s motto and history in one mark.
