In 2019 we cast the bronze POW/MIA home plate plaque shown at the top of this page for the Reno Aces, the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Dedicated on August 3, 2019 in partnership with the Vietnam Veterans of America, Sierra Nevada Chapter 989, it presides over a reserved “unoccupied chair” at the ballpark and honors the more than 82,000 American service members still listed as prisoners of war or missing in action.

Ball clubs, veterans’ organizations, and municipalities across the country use these tributes to anchor Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and opening-day ceremonies with a fixture that endures long after the crowd goes home.

What to Include on a POW/MIA Tribute Plaque

The strongest tributes are simple, legible from a distance, and built around a few essential elements:

  • The POW/MIA emblem — the silhouette, guard tower, and barbed wire, cast in raised bronze relief.
  • The motto — “You Are Not Forgotten,” the six words that define the flag.
  • A dedication line naming the club, chapter, or family making the tribute.
